Research in "Digital Technology, Platform, & AI"

Digital Technology, Platform, & AI This field explores how digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and data-driven media technologies are reshaping the ways in which communication is produced, distributed, and consumed. Focusing on emerging technological environments—such as generative AI and human-AI interaction, social media and platformization, algorithms and personalization, digital advertising, and virtual and immersive media and online games—this field analyzes how the design and use of technology influence individuals’ perceptions and behaviors, media experiences, social relationships, and public communication.

Furthermore, by combining computational social science approaches that utilize large-scale digital trace data and text, image, and video materials with machine learning, deep learning, network analysis, surveys, and experimental research, we empirically investigate the new communication phenomena generated by platforms and AI. Through this, we are conducting research on both the opportunities and social challenges brought about by digital transformation, including technology adoption and non-adoption, human-intelligent media interactions, the digital divide and digital literacy, the sense of presence and social experiences in virtual environments, and data-driven media analysis.
